Me and my music.

I love to walk with my music. It’s amazing how quickly the miles go by when the music is blasting and my mind wanders wherever it wants. Here’s is a great story about a lady, walking and music appearing at Living Healthy.

fit_walk_225Sophia D. had to practically force herself to put on her walking shoes before she started making tapes to accompany her workouts about eight years ago. With the precision of a scientist, Sophia D, 46, carefully selected the songs to sync with the pace she wanted to keep on each of the four to six hour long walking workouts she does each week. “I got absolutely hooked,” she says. “I walk to the beat. It’s like a direct route from my brain to my feet.”

Find some good music and start walking five or six days a week. Start small, a quarter or half mile per day but walk quickly. Do a test walk after first seeing your family doctor, walk a quarter mile as fast as you can without running. This is your top end pace. Now walk at a pace as close to this “test” pace as possible then gradually increase the distance every month. You’ll get faster and stronger. Work toward 60 minutes per walk for the most fat burning workouts.
