ERB - Electronic Results Buzz
-
OK, I’m a ERB addict. I love my daily and monthly “Electronic Results Buzz.”I want to know my results each day, month and year. It’s just me, how I’m wired, tracking my workouts has always been an important part of my fitness ritual.
Yesterday, I had a “moment” with my Nike+ and iPod Nano which hadn’t worked properly for two weeks and I was tired of fooling with it. Everything seems to be working properly now and I hope it stays that way because I’m an ERB addict. Please forgive me for my weakness. LOL.
Sorry to Nike, please accept my apologies for ranting but you deserved a little anger for poor customer service.
What does this have to do with you and your walking? Tracking results and progress will help you succeed. Use a journal, calendar or some tech gadget so you can see where you’ve been and where you are going. Here’s what I’ve done for the last 15 years.
The first ten years of walking, I used a simple calendar on the refrigerator, the free kind you get in the mail every year from your local real estate agent. I marked the calendar everyday, (X) for days walked and (O) for days with no walking. When a couple of (O) days appeared I knew I better get going and walk. This didn’t happen to often but it still served as a subtle reminder.
Now, I use Nike+ system to track my walking. The best feature of the Nike+ online system is the ability to set goals and that it can be used with your iPod. The goal setting is great because it tracks your results daily, telling when your ahead or behind. I choose the 4 week goal and then work to complete each month as the Nike+ system automatically tracks my progress online via the sync process from my iPod. If you go to Nike+ and join you can see ZumeWalk.com as my profile name.
A written journal works fine as long as it stares you in the face everyday; it must serve as a motivator and daily reminder.
The journal could successfully serve two areas, a fitness and food journal, “How to keep a food journal” by Gabrielle Reece writing at Yahoo Lifestyle provided by gotogabby.com gives great tips for keeping a food journal.MikeZ - “step by step tracking my results and goals”
