    no more cellulite

    Goodbye cellulite, hello beautiful legs.

Cellulite is hated universally and there is only one true cure. Of course, they’ll sell all kinds of creams, lotions and potions that claim to get rid of cellulite. In the article “Wipe Out Cellulite” at Prevention.com, the research shows that the one key to reduce or eliminating cellulite is exercise and that crash dieting can actually make the appearance of cellulite worse:

“Crash dieting can actually make cellulite worse by reducing skin’s elasticity, making more of those little puckers noticeable. Gradual weight loss (to better preserve skin’s suppleness and reduce fat) accompanied by targeted muscle development, which firms and smooths underlying tissue, is the most effective cellulite solution, says Glynis Ablon, MD, an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at UCLA.”

Here’s the skinny despite all the quick cures for the unsightly and hated bumps, cellulite is regular old fat:

“cellulite is just plain old fat (albeit dressed up in slightly more offensive attire), and a key to minimizing it is to drop pounds, according to a 2006 study published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.”

Studies have found the one true path to lessening or the elimination of the nasty stuff - exercise. One of the best ways to burn off the cellulite is walking. In fact, if you build up your own “personal” program of walking 5 days per week or 200 minutes per week, you’ll burn away that cellulite in no time:

“To maximize fat loss, you’ll do 200 minutes of cardio a week–the amount found to produce the greatest weight loss–including high-intensity exercise to rev your calorie burn for up to 19 hours after a workout.”

Here’s the program developed by Chris Freytag, contributing fitness editor and creator of Prevention’s Fight Cellulite program.

In my humble opinion, there is but one way to tackle this problem and it’s walking. A program of walking that builds and grows slowly over a long period of time and commits you to 40 minutes plus of aerobic exercise 5 days per week. A program you can follow forever and that gets you back into shape and keeps you there forever. Start today, spring is just around the corner.
