I’m going to try and count my steps one of these days.
I’ve walked 1200-1300 miles in my MBT shoes but these Reebok EasyTone are worth checking out at half the price, although it looks like they only make them for women.
Health experts recommend we log more steps — ideally 10,000 a day — to get or stay in shape, but can your choice of shoes boost the fitness impact of your walking workout? Reebok thinks so, touting its new EasyTone women’s walking shoes as offering 28 percent more gluteus maximus muscle activation, 11 percent more hamstring activation and 11 percent more calf activation. It tested the new shoes versus a typical foam-based walking shoe at the University of Delaware. For our decidedly unscientific test, we walked a mile or two daily in the shoes for a week. Big cushy pads are built in under the ball of the foot and the heel. We found the pads to be springy and soft, but not like “walking on a soft sandy beach” as the company proposes. It’s too early to know if we’ll have a beach-ready tush and legs in another month or two, but we like the way the shoes look and feel. They come in three color combinations, including black, silver and white, $110. “Fit Finds,” by Suzanne S. Brown, The Denver Post.
