There are cases that warrant a pill but of most of us should forget about a magic little pill and put on the walking shoes and keep them on for life. Nothing makes you feel better and builds long term weight control and self esteem, like exercise.
It’s all about exercise, folks. When you focus on weight loss, you’re doomed to a life of weight loss failures. The other day, I heard a frightening stat, if you diet constantly and change diets constantly, you will actually gain more weight with each progressive change. Nobody wants this outcome and the answer is simple, don’t diet, eat for weight control, not a sudden weight loss. Let your exercise do the weight loss work for you.
What am I saying? I’m saying, that we gain weight gradually and we should work to lose weight the same way, slowly. I know, no one wants to hear this because we all want to be the “The Biggest Loser” and drop 50-100 pounds in eighteen weeks. NBC’s popular show, “The Biggest Loser” is great entertainment and I watch it myself but most of the past contestants have gained all the weight back. The problem, most can’t realistically live a life of daily six hour workouts. We sprinkle in exercise for a few months then complain that it doesn’t work. If we put in the work to get fat, how about putting in the work to get fit. Why do you think the diet industry is so huge and growing? We’re growing right along with it.
You need to exercise and do it regularly, then make a change in diet, by making a small change you can control and track progress. Success is measured in small steps which become achieved goals. What I saying might not be popular and certainly won’t get me more reads but it’s the truth.
Why not try walking, it’s easy, inexpensive and works. I’m living proof, I gained thirty pounds in a 2-3 year period with little exercise. Now, I’ve lost fifteen pounds in a little over a year of walking without making one change in diet. Walking, that’s it and by the end of year three, I should be back to my ideal weight.
Try it, what do you have to lose? The weight and that negative vicious cycle, why not create a “Positively Vicious Cycle” with walking.
