Don’t feel like exercising? Why not try using a pedometer when you go for a walk? These handy little gadgets record the number of steps you take, so you really feel like you’ve achieved something.

A recent US study* of people with diabetes found that those with pedometers enjoyed their walking exercise programme more than those who didn’t have the gadgets – so they were more likely to stay the course. The British Heart Foundation says taking around 10,000 steps per day (five miles) will help keep your heart healthy.
