I’ve been thinking about theses shoes, Nike Free, for a while and I’ve been looking for a pair of shoes to wear when walking long distances.

What I plan to do is alternate been my MBT - The Anti-shoeMBT’s for regular walks and Nike Free’s for my long walks. I’ll be interested to see how they feel and help me complete my long walks. Here’s the story behind the Nike Free 5.0.

So, what’s makes the new Free 5.0 a truly unique shoe?

    Deep, Nike Free Sipes
Molded along the length and width of the midsole, the sipes allow for barefoot-like flexibility and stability.

    A Phylite Midsole
Features a Waffle outsole construction for lightweight, resilient cushioning along with enhanced traction and durability.

    A 5.0-Specific Upper
Engineered to provide just enough support while still allowing the foot to move in a natural, dynamic and barefoot-like manner. The soft, ultra-smooth microfiber overlays—created using a unique technique to minimize stitching—also maximizes comfort. And a redesigned tongue construction reduces pressure over the top ridge of the foot, while also providing extra support by wrapping around the medial arch.

Finally, both the men’s and women’s Free 5.0’s are designed with gender-specific sipes that are wider across the forefoot. These allow for greater engagement of the toes on footstrike and increased muscle activation for a more barefoot-like experience.

free_mI’ll let you know how the Nike Free feeling and how my system works out. I kind of excited because I’ve felt that I could walk my long walks easier if I had a regular pair of shoes rather than the MBT. I wish Nike would make a pair of shoes like the MBT’s and then package it with a good running shoes, specifically as a shoes system, maybe a ZumeWalk Shoe System by Nike. I have the craziest thoughts.

MikeZ_walking in two pair of shoes, hope I don’t fall.
