Cooking light and walking - a recipe for controlling how old you look and feel.
"Seventy percent of premature aging is caused by the choices we make, says Michael F. Roizen, M.D., and John La Puma, M.D. "By making some easy choices, such as eating well, you can control your genes rather than being controlled by them and even slow down or reverse aging," Roizen explains. Now the cooking light part. Not only do you need to cook healthy but you also need to feed your body the protein and flavor that cures...
Once you use the word cool to describe something, it's no longer cool. I googled "coolest exercise programs" and a few things stood out to me.
First, a list of the coolest exercise equipment. Here's what Forbes.com had to say: "Looking to make your workouts more interesting? Maybe what you need is exercise equipment that makes it more fun, if not more rewarding."
Then LL Cool J's workout program. Judge for yourself. Buzzle.com's review LL's workout.
How could I talk about cool and not mention the gadgets? What's your favorite workout gadget?
My favorite is Nike+ Sportswatch and iPod,...

Do they work? Have they worked for you? Do they work short term and long term?
Let me know? Please, I would love to hear your stories.
I have a diet plan. It's called throw away your scale and walk five or six days a week for two years.
Start small and increase your walking distance gradually but walk quickly. Don't weigh yourself at the end of the first year. In the second year, cut out 500 calories per day and keep walking for one more year. Try to get to the point where you're walking 45-60 minutes per walk. Now at the end of the second year, weigh yourself. I bet you have lost weight....
What are they talking about over at the Huffington Post - Desperate Housewives, Desperate Measurements?
Desperate Housewives is a TV show not real life. OK, first let me say sorry but here I go.
It's not complicated, let your kids go outside everyday; no jazzercise necessary. Start when they're little, real little and go outside. They will naturally stay fit. No planning, no programs and no play dates! Play - plain and simple.
You don't need an exercise program, it's as simple as playing outside everyday. Playing with the other kids from the neighborhood. Sometimes they'll even...
Walking is great brain food. Well, it's really all about the deep breathing. Oh, I see where you're going. Get your mind out of the gutter, not that kind of deep breathing. It's the increased oxygen to the blood stream be exact.
So do your brain a favor and take your head out for a walk. How about four or five times a week. I know how important walking each day is to me. The stress released, clearing my mind from a day at work and allowing my mind to rest for a moment.
MikeZ - "major head case"
PS - Rest days are as important as the walking days - don't skip your day off.
This workout is great. Try it, to burn more calories and put a little extra push in a walk. This probably is a more advanced workout so if your just starting out - go slow.
Create your work program for the long haul not for weight loss next month. Take a look at another post about seeing your doctor before starting any workout program.
I know, I know all those disclaimers but this one more important than any disclaimer, it's your doctor and they care and can help you start your journey of fitness safely and productively.
MikeZ - "walking, exercise for the rest of us; exercise for the rest...
I know this doesn't have anything to do with walking or getting fit. But I think about the stress these incredible people were under during this plane crash. And how a little exercise probably increases your chances in this kind situation.
Take a look at the video: CNN.com
My hat's off to the whole crew, passengers and the quick response of all New Yorkers involved in the rescue.
Getting fit might save your life one day, in more than one way.
MikeZ - step by step
Are you lost? I had to ask this couple last night on my walk. They looked lost, looking at signs and possessing a general look of lost on their faces. The couple answered, "No were fine." As I walked away, I heard the woman say to her partner, "why am I not losing any weight with all this walking" and I realized that they were...
out having an evening of strolling, ambling, making ones way, moseying, promenading, rambling, sauntering, stretch one's legs, taking a turn, toddling and wandering. Check it out at CityMommy, there's a good post about walking as exercise. Don't get me wrong, I'm...
