Don't measure weight loss with your scale. Scales don't help you lose weight. Please, give away your scale while you embark on this journey to get fit.
Give it to your mom, sister, friend, neighbor or workout partner but get it out of your house for one year.
Free yourself to work on goals that are positive like walking for one year. Now weigh yourself.
Here's a great blog about one woman's quest to lose 100 pounds.
Here's the method I think works best for permanent weight loss.
"OjAS" - Old Jean Adjustment System. Sound interesting? Let's do it.
OK, go find the old jeans that you once loved and that loved you. You know, your skinny jeans. Now weigh yourself. Write down your weight and pin it to those jeans. Stick them back into the hidden place of honor. Now, give your scale to a friend for one to two years. Remember, it takes the same amount of time to permanently take off weight, as it took to put it on. Two years gaining weight equals two years taking it off.
Walk for one or two years. No cheating....
Monday is my day off but since it's a holiday I decided to workout today anyway.
Wrong decision!
I got started OK. But then I had a terrible case of the fidgets. Adjust the hat, gloves and earphones. Stop and mess with the shoes. Alright I'm getting grumpy. Then it hit me; I'm tired. So I did a short walk and called it a day.
Good decision.

Resting.
Walking. Simple. Strap on your shoes, open the front door and walk out. You've taken the hardest and most important step. Starting. Now please, let me tell you, I don't believe in diets or dieting (more about this subject later) but this is a good article in the link above.
I started ZumeWalk to communicate, create a fitness community, a group of people who like to walk and sort of a support group for those starting or re-starting to exercise.
This is hopefully a resource and a place where we can encourage and get encouraged by participating while helping others to start.
Start a journey...
I know, he's everywhere and America is loving it. The man of the hour. President Elect Obama is embarking on the journey of a lifetime.
Does exercise play a role in his life and will his level of fitness play a role in his ability to successfully lead?
Here's what he had to say in a Men's Health magazine interview.
Maybe we can get the new President out walking one day. There are great paths and walking in Washington, DC especially if you're a visitor and want to go with an expert tour guide.
