One of the most frequently asked questions among my readers and clients is "Do I have to exercise?" Let's shine a new light on exercise, once and for all.
There are three key things the body needs to be doing constantly:
1. Taking in oxygen
2. Pushing out poisons (primarily through...
I know sometimes, um, well, um; I go a little soft in the brain and my "check brain" light pops on. That's when I get the oxygen flowing and walk my brain off. Then the youthful brain, I've depended upon for so many years comes back to life. It's like the check engine light on your car, once it comes on, you better get to the shop for a once over. Same for the brain, it needs oxygen and work, to make sure the "check brain" light doesn't keep coming popping on. OK, put one foot down then the other and repeat. Simple and I've been doing it most of my life. However, it seems most of us have been doing it all wrong according to Jonathan FitzGordon, a yoga teacher and owner of Yoga Center of Brooklyn in a NY Times article by Sara Eckel.

Walking is great brain food. Well, it's really all about the deep breathing. Oh, I see where you're going. Get your mind out of the gutter, not that kind of deep breathing. It's the increased oxygen to the blood stream be exact.
So do your brain a favor and take your head out for a walk. How about four or five times a week. I know how important walking each day is to me. The stress released, clearing my mind from a day at work and allowing my mind to rest for a moment.

PS - Rest days are as important as the walking days - don't skip your day off.
