Goodbye cellulite, hello beautiful legs.
Cellulite is hated universally and there is only one true cure. Of course, they'll sell all kinds of creams, lotions and potions that claim to get rid of cellulite. In the article "Wipe Out Cellulite" at Prevention.com, the research shows that the one key to reduce or eliminating cellulite is exercise and that crash dieting can actually make the appearance of cellulite worse:
"Crash dieting can actually make cellulite worse by reducing skin's elasticity, making more of those little puckers noticeable. Gradual weight loss (to better preserve skin's...
I mostly workout alone but that's the reality of time management. If I had my way it would be with someone else. Time goes more quickly and on the days that I'm not motivated to walk, my workout partner, can give me a nudge.
I like David's post at davidadewumi.com:
"Partner Up: Find someone who is in (slightly) better shape that is going solo — or find a group of friends to train with. Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success."

Here's the secret method, come a little closer - THROW AWAY YOUR SCALE!!!
OK, now I'm whispering for effect, I know you can do it. It's all common sense. Exercise, burn calories, lose weight. Why am I writing like a caveman? Strange.
First, throw away your scale for one year. And please, please don't weight yourself. This is the really important part, exercise regularly. I sound like your eighth grade gym teacher but it's true, there are no secrets other than, exercise regularly.
Here's a list of things that might help you:
Start.
Just start.
Start today.

Walking. Simple. Strap on your shoes, open the front door and walk out. You've taken the hardest and most important step. Starting. Now please, let me tell you, I don't believe in diets or dieting (more about this subject later) but this is a good article in the link above.
I started ZumeWalk to communicate, create a fitness community, a group of people who like to walk and sort of a support group for those starting or re-starting to exercise.
This is hopefully a resource and a place where we can encourage and get encouraged by participating while helping others to start.
Start a journey...
Isn't "it" about changing the world for the better. Whatever "it" is anyway? I'm not sure about my 'it" yet. What's your "it"?
Let's change the world, one step at a time. One pound at a time.
I see, you're asking what does this have to do with me, walking, fitness? Nothing or everything. We could organize an one day nationwide walk to raise a million bucks. Something I came up with while walking. Maybe we could raise the money for children and medical research. What do you think?
Here's what I figure:
WHAT - Walk - May 1, 2009
WHEN - Anytime you want
WHERE - Your...
I walk all year long. Love the warm months and just get it done in the cold ones.
Sounds nuts but it relieves stress and I get some good daily fresh(air, that is) which is great after a long day working inside.
The problems are all the layers of clothing, cold air and the tightness associated with winter workouts. So I've begun to really focusing on warming-up (stretching), staying warm & loose during walking and the cool down process after the workout.
Number One Goal - Improving my warm-up and cool down routine in 2009.
This is code for stretching. The thing that most of us hate...
I just bought some nordic walking sticks. And I'm embarrassed to take them out for the first time. I bought them because during my winter walking it gets slippery and thought it might help on those snowy and icy days. I bought the Leki Supreme/Prestige Fitness Walking Poles at Dicks Sporting Goods for under a hundred bucks.
After some research, I found out that nordic walking sticks or poles can burn 20-25% more calories than just regular walking.
I'll suck it up and get them out this weekend.
Please don't laugh at me as I'm walking by with my poles swing in the winter breeze!
Maybe...
So really what is ZumeWalking?
It's daily walking and building a life of fitness. A personal exercise journey created by each of us and shared as a community of support.
What better way to take a journey than with friends, family or the people who have similar goals. Whether online or next door they can share in our journey and we in theirs. Sharing with those who are chasing the same goal - a fit life. Raising money, sharing ideas and resources. One of my main goals is to raise money by having a one day walk, nationwide, raising money for a charity like St. Jude Children's Research...
