... it's a doozy!
Not really but it can be hard to start an exercise program. Here's one of the most respected names in the medical industry, The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) which conducts and supports basic and clinical research on many of the most serious diseases affecting public health.
Here's what they have to say about starting a program of walking:
Walking is one of the easiest ways to be physically active. You can do it almost anywhere and at any time. Walking is also inexpensive–all you need is a pair of shoes with sturdy heel support....
I mostly workout alone but that's the reality of time management. If I had my way it would be with someone else. Time goes more quickly and on the days that I'm not motivated to walk, my workout partner, can give me a nudge.
I like David's post at davidadewumi.com:
"Partner Up: Find someone who is in (slightly) better shape that is going solo — or find a group of friends to train with. Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success."
or
"Motivation = Decision before Action. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” –Lao...
He's five and he lives throughout my house especially the "frig." The one thing I've learned, is to stay out of his way when he's eating blueberries. You could lose a finger! Don't walk, run away! Now that's exercise. When you're five you don't think about wrinkles and looking younger but the rest of us do.
Two great foods to eat to help with aging and looking younger are blueberries and plums.

About a year ago, I found your podcast on iTunes and quickly signed up for a membership. I was going through a very negative time in my life and your meditations have helped me to find my center. Thanks to you, I have been turned on to EFT and have had tremendous results both by running through your exercises as well as on my own. . .

Allison's Challenge
Allison grew up with an aerobics instructor for a mother and sports-star brothers. But pressure to be active led her to choose the couch-potato path -- why she put on weight. Her habits stuck, and when she got married at 24, she weighed 180 pounds.
My Turning Point
In the evenings, Allison...
The "Biggest Loser" is about short term pain for short term gain.
SHORT TERM is any program that focuses weight loss on a very short period of time, like an eighteen week TV program. My bet is 90-95% of the "Biggest Loser" participants will gain all the weight back plus additional pounds. My hope, is they don't, but statistics are not on their side.
My contention, in order to lose weight you must do it the same way you gained it. Slowly over time. Most of us don't gain weight quickly, it's gained over years. Here's what Meghan Vivo says in an article titled, "Why Quick-Fix Weight Loss...

"I could while away the hours, conferring with the flowers, consulting with the rain. If I only had a brain."
I love that song and the movie. But there is a lesson buried in the song that relates to walking.
Your brain needs exercise and boosting brain power may be steps away. Professor Arthur Kramer of the University of Illinois in Urbana is part of a revolution, CBS News contributing correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta reports. He's challenging a long-held belief in the world of neuroscience that the brain is hardwired, fixed, immutable. Professor Kramer says,
"We found in our study...
OK, put one foot down then the other and repeat. Simple and I've been doing it most of my life. However, it seems most of us have been doing it all wrong according to Jonathan FitzGordon, a yoga teacher and owner of Yoga Center of Brooklyn in a NY Times article by Sara Eckel.
"Few of us think we need a course in walking any more than we’d need a course in breathing, but Mr. FitzGordon insists that most Americans don’t have a clue how to step, a problem he first noticed among his yoga students. “People would enter with terrible posture,” he said. “Then they’d do beautiful yoga, and listen...
Geographically desirable? That statement takes on a whole new meaning in todays dating scene.
People are deciding whether or not to date someone based on location, traffic and location are now the first criteria, not the fifth or sixth on the list.
I can only image what is being said all over the dating world:
"You're the most beautiful woman I've ever met but I can't get together tonight because the traffic is above the yellow rating"
"That guy is so funny but no way I'm going out on a date tonight the traffic is awful"
"Sorry, you're out of my hottie traffic zone"
I hate traffic...
