Tone underneath the fluff - first. Then slowly work on portion control and weight loss. If you concentrate on working out first, the weight will fall off in a careful and measured way and it will stay off. I know this method stinks and people don't want to hear about it - they want weight loss today or yesterday. However, we all know what happens when we crash diet, the fluff returns and it returns in a more abundant manner each time we start and stop the cycle. Check out my post, Positively Vicious Cycle.
Let's start exercising regularly together. How about walking consistently for one year...
OK, I'm a ERB addict. I love my daily and monthly "Electronic Results Buzz."
I want to know my results each day, month and year. It's just me, how I'm wired, tracking my workouts has always been an important part of my fitness ritual.
Yesterday, I had a "moment" with my Nike+ and iPod Nano which hadn't worked properly for two weeks and I was tired of fooling with it. Everything seems to be working properly now and I hope it stays that way because I'm an ERB addict. Please forgive me for my weakness. LOL.
Sorry to Nike, please accept my apologies for ranting but you deserved a little anger...
"Many years back, as infants, we began walking. We weren’t very good at it. Our first steps were hesitant, our balance wasn’t very good, and we stumbled often. With practice we improved to the point where most of us don’t have to think about walking. Most importantly, when we first began walking we did not suffer any overuse injuries, although we may have had a few dings and bruises from falling. We need to make sure that we carefully approach a healthy walking fitness program and do all is possible to avoid injury. By avoiding injury you’ll be able to make progress to your goals as rapidly...
Read the signs, before it's too late.
Are you tired all the time, can't sleep, eating for no good reason, gained weight or lack energy? Maybe your fitness tank is on empty? We all receive the signs, every now and again, and we tend to go into ignore mode. Could it be a life lacking consistent exercise? The signs are usually all around us and stand as possible warnings. Take a look at "Warning: Lack of Exercise Is Detrimental To Your Health" By Jim O'Connor at Ezine Articles. The article gives an eye opening look at a life with no or little exercise:
"The simple innocent choice of not exercising...
I know it's hard starting, re-starting or jump starting a life with exercise in it. I've been there. I stopped exercising for over two years. It was difficult re-starting. I bounced between working out and a complete full stop. Finally, I figured out what exercise had consistently worked for me - walking. Walking outside to be exact. How did I forget my 15 years of outside walking? Maybe, I chose to forget?
I vividly remember the moment of full power unhappiness, an "in the mirror moment" when I looked at the reflection and decided this had gone far enough. I was not happy with my thirty...
There are two things that walking promotes - good health and a good body. The secret is showing up consistently each week. And setting personal goals over a long period, like one year. Then throw away your scale and just do it - walk.
Why walking does your body good? Well, it's easy because you can do it consistently. Walking four or five times per week burns almost as many calories as running. The difference between slow running and fast walking is almost identical. Walking only burns about 10% less calories. With walking you're more likely to workout the next day and then the next day and so on. This...

I know some people are very serious athletes and consider walking the physical pursuit of the athletically challenged but Lambeth Hochwald from Health magazine points out the incredible health benefits of walking;
"Walking is not just a weenie activity for the nonathletic, says Michelle Look, MD, national medical consultant to the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk and a physician who specializes in sports medicine in San Diego: “It’s good for just about anybody, and the health benefits are particularly significant for women.” Here, eight reasons to start walking—or just walk a little more often."

Punxsutawney Phil says six more weeks of winter. So what?! Did you know that the first day of spring this year falls on March 20th. Clocks and gofers where am I going with this? Phil and Spring forward, fall back. Things that remind us of spring. And the final and most daunting of reminders, your swim suit. LOUD SCREAM followed by crying then hopeless despair.
Never fear. Yes, most of us think about these sayings as it relates to spring being just around the corner. But they always make me think about that first warm day when people bolt out their front door and frantically start exercising....
Goodbye cellulite, hello beautiful legs.
Cellulite is hated universally and there is only one true cure. Of course, they'll sell all kinds of creams, lotions and potions that claim to get rid of cellulite. In the article "Wipe Out Cellulite" at Prevention.com, the research shows that the one key to reduce or eliminating cellulite is exercise and that crash dieting can actually make the appearance of cellulite worse:
"Crash dieting can actually make cellulite worse by reducing skin's elasticity, making more of those little puckers noticeable. Gradual weight loss (to better preserve skin's...
