WALKING IS POWERFUL MEDICINE by Maggie Spilner at Runner's World magazine says:
"Maybe you want to lose a few pounds or protect your heart from disease or keep your bones strong and your joints limber. Walking can do all this and more."
"To be sure, scientists have only begun to scratch the surface in understanding the benefits of exercise -- not only for fighting cancer and boosting immunity but also for enhancing all aspects of human health. Interestingly, most studies of exercise use walking as the activity of choice. And they have revealed some extraordinary information about what this most...
Gary T, a member of USA TODAY's 2007 Weight-Loss Challenge, has worn a path around his backyard from walking the perimeter so much. He shed more than 90 pounds. A new study finds it doesn't take hours of daily walking to improve your health.
How amazing he lost 90 pounds walking in his backyard. Now he needs some tunes to spice it up.
"If you take a brisk walk for as little as 20 to 30 minutes three times a week, you'll feel more energetic, happier and calmer, says a study presented Thursday at an American Heart Association meeting in Colorado Springs. This adds to the growing body of evidence...
Forget fancy exercise machines looked down at your feet because they are built-in fat burning machines.
"You already have the best fat-burning equipment: your feet. The secret is knowing how to use them. Whether you're a novice walker or a regular who's hit a plateau, we'll help you whittle down in four weeks, just in time for beach season."
Your bikini is eyeing you from the dresser drawer - better check out this fat burning work out program at Good Housekeeping:
"Our program is specifically designed to bump your body into a higher calorie- and fat-burning zone, so those flabby trouble spots...
Not really but for most of us "regular" people this kind of math is beyond our grasp.
"A walk is a sequence of graph vertices and graph edges such that the graph vertices andgraph edges are adjacent.
A closed walk is therefore equivalent to a graph cycle, but with the graph vertices along the walk enumerated as well as the graph edges."
Created, developed and nurtured by Eric Weinstein at Wolfram Research and reference D.B. West, Introduction to Graph Theory, 2nd ed..
I know Zume is part of a brilliant group maybe someone could explain this for us "regular" people?

I have been known to get bored. Who doesn't?
Here are a few ideas to bring your walks back into harmony.
In the article "Mood Lifter: A Daily Brisk Walk," Connie Tyne, executive director of Cooper Wellness Program in Dallas, suggests
"warming up gradually and then doing a few minutes of fitness walking (medium strides with arms moving at a 90-degree angle) followed by power walking (smaller, quicker steps, as if you're in a big hurry). You can also jog for a short distance or until you feel tired and then return to fitness walking."
One thing I do occasionally, is run the hills on the shorter...
Why is buying good walking shoe such a pain. I wear MBT's but I would like to have a regular pair of walking shoes for when I go for extra long walks.
This article at Dummies.com sums it up nicely but I always still seem to have more questions.
"A good pair of walking shoes runs you anywhere from $40 to $100. They should have good shock absorption and should be stiffer and more supportive than running shoes, despite having a flexible forefoot. The midsoles are thinner than those of running shoes to accommodate the slower foot roll when you walk. They feature beveled, or slightly angled, heels...

It's your big night. A walk down the red carpet.
All those years of work culminated in one night in the spotlight.
Where did you put that ticket?
Not know - where could my ticket be? Pocket, purse, dropped?
There it is? Now you can relax.
OK, get walking. Head up - shoulders back.
You know, down the red carpet. The red carpet to fitness. Sorry you thought... now that's funny.
Not just down the red carpet but everywhere, anywhere and somewhere.
The store, parking lots, Starbucks, stairs, dry cleaner, airport, charity weekend walks almost anywhere and everywhere.
The...
