Thin people make more money. Stop yelling, I know it sounds terrible. The facts and results differ by age group and gender.
This study of "mature" men at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Department of Economics stated some of their findings:
This study found that in mature men there was no ill effects on earnings with regards to weight and it's possible that "portly" men tended to make slightly more than their peers.

I have been known to get bored. Who doesn't?
Here are a few ideas to bring your walks back into harmony.

"warming up gradually and then doing a few minutes of fitness walking (medium strides with arms moving at a 90-degree angle) followed by power walking (smaller, quicker steps, as if you're in a big hurry). Why is buying good walking shoe such a pain. I wear MBT's but I would like to have a regular pair of walking shoes for when I go for extra long walks.
This article at Dummies.com sums it up nicely but I always still seem to have more questions.

They should have good shock absorption and should be stiffer and more supportive than running shoes, despite having a flexible forefoot. The midsoles are thinner than those of running shoes to accommodate the slower foot roll when you walk. They feature beveled, or slightly angled, heels...
"Support system" are not words I would have once used in association with my physical fitness. I assumed I had the self-discipline to get in shape. Boy, was I wrong."
We work together why not walk together. With a strong support system you could change the cycle and stride forward toward success.
This article at Southern Living, puts a fine point on the process of forming a walk group and the benefits.
