Detour long-term problems related to stress by walking says Prevention via AOL Health.
"Of course, when you're under pressure, whatever its source, going for a walk may be the last thing on your mind. You're not the only one who feels that way. When researchers tracked the exercise habits of 82 women for 8 weeks, they found that the women worked out less often during weeks that were filled with stressful events. At those times, exercise was "just one more thing to do."
We all feel stress and life can sweep over you in a flash so lace up those walking shoes and head for the door. How about...
As I said last week in my post and product review, "Yakety, Yak Don't Buy the YakTrax - Yet"; I love REI.
Here's what REI has to say about walking for fitness and gearing up.

I love these articles because they relate directly to my walking and why I walk other than exercises. My walking helps me each day by getting rid of the stress, thinking through problems and inspiring new ideas and concepts.
HOW THE RHYTHMIC PROCESS OF WALKING CAN ENHANCE CREATIVITY:
There is a wisdom of the body that our minds tend to ignore. A wisdom that is vital for creativity. That may seem a strange statement for we think of our mind as being the source of creativity but the mind is many faceted.

The "Biggest Loser" is about short term pain for short term gain.
SHORT TERM is any program that focuses weight loss on a very short period of time, like an eighteen week TV program. My bet is 90-95% of the "Biggest Loser" participants will gain all the weight back plus additional pounds. My hope, is they don't, but statistics are not on their side.
My contention, in order to lose weight you must do it the same way you gained it. Slowly over time. Most of us don't gain weight quickly, it's gained over years. Here's what Meghan Vivo says in an article titled, "Why Quick-Fix Weight Loss...
"I could while away the hours, conferring with the flowers, consulting with the rain. If I only had a brain."
I love that song and the movie. But there is a lesson buried in the song that relates to walking.
Your brain needs exercise and boosting brain power may be steps away. Professor Arthur Kramer of the University of Illinois in Urbana is part of a revolution, CBS News contributing correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta reports. He's challenging a long-held belief in the world of neuroscience that the brain is hardwired, fixed, immutable. Professor Kramer says,

We all have an inner beast that must be tamed. And one of the best ways to project true inner and outer beauty is confidence. Confidence in the physical, mental and spiritual. Exercise is one of the best ways to project the positive, Sara at BeautyChatBlog points out that: "Since your body is finally working, exercise promotes...
